Queen Latifah is going to give daytime talk another shot.

Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Latifah’s Flavor Unit announced they will partner up for a syndicated show that Latifah will host. If all goes according to plan, the series will debut in 2013.

Latifah is the latest to jump into the post-Oprah talk show world that already scheduled to add Katie Couric, Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. This is, of course, in addition to existing shows featuring Ellen DeGeneres and Wendy Williams as well as “The View” and “The Talk.”

In a statement, Overbrook’s Miguel Melendez says, “We have known and admired Latifah for over 20 years: dating back to our music days, to her first television role on ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,’ and years after when she worked with Jada on the film ‘Set it Off.'”

The last time Latifah tried this route, it was on “The Queen Latifah Show.” The syndicated talk show ran from Sept. 1999 – Aug. 2001.
