R&B icon Smokey Robinson feels sorry for Michael Jackson’s embattled personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, insisting he believes the doctor merely wanted to be around Michael.

Robinson feels sure Dr. Murray was only doing what Jackson told him to do, and unfortunately that may have involved administering the fatal dose of anaesthetic Propofol which cost Michael his life in June, 2009.

Speaking to Access Hollywood backstage at last Saturday’s Michael Forever Tribute Concert in Wales, Smokey said, “I just think it’s tragic. I think it’s a tragedy. I feel sorry, in a way, for the doctor… He was just so happy to be around Michael Jackson, and to do whatever Michael said whenever Michael said it.”

The Michael Forever concert offered fans and Jackson family members a break from the Murray manslaughter trial in Los Angeles. The doctor faces jail time if he’s found guilty.
