The 9/11 Memorial is now officially open to the public in New York. For the first time in 10 years, ordinary citizens with no badges, hard-hats, or media credentials are being allowed into the grounds where thousands of Americans were entombed in a mountain of smoking rubble. Admission is free, security is tight and visitors will need to obtain passes in advance which allow you entrance at a specific time. No more than 1,500 visitors will be allowed in at a time, and of course, you will be subjected to a metal detector and x-ray machines upon entering.
