NASCAR rolls into the Capital City this week for one of the circuit’s biggest races of the Stock Car season, the Wonderful Postachios 400. It’s the last Sprint Cup race before the Championship Chase. and what a race it should be with Chesterfield native Denny Hamlin trying to remain alive for a wild card slot in the Chase. Hamlin finished 8th in Atlanta and comes home to Richmond International Raceway in the 12th and final slot for the championship field, so Denny needs a decent run at this very familiar track. Veteran driver Jeff Gordaon dusted the field at Atlanta, beating teammate Jimmie Johnson to the checkered flag for his 3rd win of the season, and the 85th of his great career. Gordon comes to Richmond as the third winningest driver in NASCAR history. Only the “King” Richard Petty and David Pearson have more Cup victories. The Nationwide series runs on Friday night, Sprint Cup on Saturday, airing on ABC live from RIR.
