Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is wearing a new hat.  He has been named chairman of the Rebublican Govenors Association. The present head of the association , Rick Perry, has stepped down to run for President. This gives McDonnell a national platform however he contends that he will complete his term as VA governor but will be willing to serve on a presidential ticket for 2012 if asked.

Governor McDonnell stated,

“I’m not campaigning for it. I’m not lobbying for it. I’m not asking for it. I’m not expecting it all,” McDonnell said during an interview in Richmond, Va. “All I’ve said is, if any governor in America gets a call from a candidate (who) says, ‘Hey, I’d like you to help my ticket. Would you be on it?’ I’d say, sure, I’d think about it.”
