Mike Tyson has teamed-up with filmmaker Spike Lee to produce a TV drama loosely based on his early boxing life.
The former boxing champion, who has moved into showbusiness in recent years with roles in ‘The Hangover’ and its sequel, has created a new TV show called ‘Da Brick’, which focuses on the experiences of a young, black boxer growing up in Newark, New Jersey.
According to Elin, “After watching a season of Entourage, Mike asked me, why don’t (you) do with my life what we did with Mark Wahlberg’s life (Entourage is based on Mark Wahlberg’s hollywood life wth 4 friends). The initial idea was Entourage meets The Wire, an edgy story about an up-and-coming boxer and his crew that is much more dramatic than Entourage.”
Spike Lee is onboard to direct the project, while ‘Entourage’ creator Doug Ellin will executive produce the project.
