Like many a bride-to-be, Sherri Shepherd is working hard to slim down for her upcoming wedding day.

But it’s more than a white dress that’s got her so motivated.

“I have to lose as much weight as possible for me to be healthy to carry [a baby],” Shepherd, who will marry Lamar Sally in August.

Shepherd, a co-host on ABC’s The View, who wants to have a baby after the wedding, has a 6-year-old son Jeffrey from her previous marriage. She also suffers from diabetes and has struggled with fertility in the past, miscarrying Jeffrey’s twin sister when she went into labor six years ago.

Now, Shepherd, 44, has added personal training sessions to an already rigorous health and fitness regimen that includes Zumba dance classes and adhering to the South Beach Diet.

“I go at 7 in the morning, four times a week to see my trainer over at the Reebok Club,” she revealed. “She’s doing a lot of interval training with me, and these things called suicides. Those are really tough.”

But nothing is too tough for Shepherd, who is so serious about being fit that she has even incorporated exercise into her wedding – and foisted it on her wedding party, which includes bridesmaids Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Niecy Nash, Kym Whitley and Nicole Brown.

“We just got back from L.A. rehearsing a choreographed dance for eight hours,” Shepherd says. “Everybody threw out their back. They were tired and bruised!”
