Director Martin Scorsese is in talks to turn Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s love story into a Hollywood movie, according to reports.
Taylor, who died in March, initially began a relationship with Richard Burton after the two of them met on the set of Cleopatra in 1963 and they married twice – once in 1964 and again in 1975, a year after their first divorce.
Elizabeth Taylor, who married a total of eight times, always maintained Burton was her one great love and they starred in 11 movies together before his death in 1984.
Their tumultuous relationship became the subject of Furious Love, a 2010 book by authors Sam Kasner and Nancy Schoenberger, and now the book has been optioned by Paramount Pictures executives.
Scorsese is reportedly in negotiations to take charge of the film. Casting details have not been revealed.
