In a move that is equivalent in women’s basketball to Michael Jordan’s return to the NBA, former 3-time WNBA Most Valuable Player and winner of four WNBA titles, Sheryl Swoopes has decided to return to the league at age 40.  Swoopes retired from the WNBA in 2008 after playing with the Seattle Storm but continued to play overseas.  She’s agreed to sign a deal with the Tulsa Shock, a team that went 6-28 last season and it’s led by former University of Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson.  Swoopes played in the WNBA’s first season in 1997.
