Coach Shaka Smart and his VCU Rams are headed to the NCAA Tournament, a major accomplishment for any major college basketball program and their fans and alumni have every right to be proud. The choice was not a popular one on the nation’s premiere sports network ESPN, where if you listen to some of their analysts, the Rams selection was almost criminal. As long as I’ve been watching college hoops, this argument is made every single year by some “major” school who feels they’ve been robbed, so VCU owes an apology to no one. Jay Bilas, former Duke player now ESPN analyst, said he has questions as to whether this committee even knows the ball is round after this decision. VCU plays Southern Cal on Wednesday night in Dayton, Ohio. Go Rams!
