The Hokies of Virginia Tech started the season with a loss to national power Boise State, then a traumatic defeat at the hands of in-state FCS rival James Madison. At that point, no one would have believed the Hokies would go on to run off 11 straight victories and win the ACC Championship, as they did on Saturday in Charlotte defeating Florida State. Tech, now ranked 13th in the BCS poll, will immediately begin preparations for No. 4 Stanford, the Hokies upcoming opponent in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve in Miami. Stanford’s only loss this season came at the hands of undefeated Oregon, which plays for the national championship in January.
