Happy Thanksgiving! How would you like to travel this Thanksgiving holiday without the traffic congestion? Well, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) wants to help you avoid traffic this weekend.
VDOT has posted a series of maps http://www.virginiadot.org/newsroom/thanksgiving_2011.asp showing holiday traffic congestion trends on its website. This will give you an idea of congested roadways to avoid as you travel this Thanksgiving weekend.
VDOT crews will suspend highway lane closures from 12 noon on Wednesday to 12 noon on Monday.
