This weekend, when on the red carpet at the 2011 Soul Train Awards, Keri was being interviewed by a magazine that asked her to hold up their latest issue. Unfortunately for them, Beyonce and her hubby Jay-Z were on the cover and Keri simply handed the mag back and denied their request. Ha!

An excited fan ran on stage hoping to give Keri a little sugar on the cheek. But it got ugly very fast.

And it’s reported that the “Pretty Girl Rock” singer took a misguided blow during the chaos. She’s taken the incident in stride, even sympathizing with her eager admirer.

Apparently, this sort of thing is pretty common. Fans simply can’t contain themselves when they’re merely inches away from their favorite stars.

Keri wasn’t seriously injured, but she definitely needs better security.

The “Pretty Girl Rock” singer visited the Educational Alliance’s Sirovich Senior Center in New York on Saturday, September 24, decked out in a “Pretty Girls Sweat” t-shirt and a pink Nike cap, to get a group of young girls moving and talking about healthy choices. Her participation was part of a self-esteem building series called “Project Butterfly,” hosted by lifestyle website T.E.E.N. Diaries.

While DJ Tyger Lilly mixed a selection of songs like “Pretty Girl Rock,” Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls) ,” and Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” to get everybody hyped, about 100 girls jumped rope, danced and worked the runway with Sports Illustrated model Damaris Lewis. They also talked with Hilson about how the media portrayed women’s bodies and how to eat properly.

Earlier this year, the First Lady asked Beyoncé to remake her hit “Get Me Bodied” into a full workout routine titled “Move Your Body.”

Now Hilson has her own dance workout video of sorts, after teens from DeVore Dance Center in Queens, New York created one to “Pretty Girl Sweat” with the “Project Butterfly” girls.

Hilson recently cleared her busy schedule to make an appearance at an east London school, where she encouraged youngsters to work hard to reach their goals.

Keri insists it’s important for teenagers to understand her life in the spotlight is not as glamorous as it seems.

She tells Britain’s Metro magazine, “I love doing it and try to do it most places I visit. (In London, I visited) a class of kids who wanted to work in entertainment. I love shedding the perception they have of me – the clothes, the hair and make-up, the heels, the expensive cars. The person they get in real life is very different to that. They each had a dream about working in the industry and I gave them the real (story). I don’t sugar-coat it when I talk to kids.”
