Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and actress Brandy has just been confirmed for the cast of Tyler Perry’s much talked about new film “The Marriage Counselor” and obviously fans of the popular R&B talent couldn’t be happier.
With a season of new projects developing right before our eyes, there’s no doubt that Brandy’s official comeback to the entertainment industry is in full swing. According to movie news from Essence and Clutch, “B-Rocka” will join Tyler Perry’s all-star ensemble which currently includes Jurnee Smollett, Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams and most recently announced, Kim Kardashian.
For years we heard Brandy’s extensive catalog of hits climb the charts, then her hit television show “Moesha” became a household icon. From there, more music, more movies and more magic solidified the R&B singer’s bonafide entertainer status. Brandy even took on reality TV with her MTV series “Special Delivery” chronicling her pregnancy in 2002 and her musical families’ trials and triumphs on VH1’s “Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business” just last year.
Most recently, we saw her shimmy and shake to the top coming up just short of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ grand prize on Season 11 then she started popping up in cameos on some of our favorite new TV shows, but can she rise to the occasion after being away from the big screen all this time? We think so and we can’t wait to see it all.
Meanwhile, Brandy, 32, is continuing work on her forthcoming sixth studio CD tentatively set for release in 2012 on RCA Records. Tyler Perry’s “The Marriage Counselor” is based on his 10th touring stage play of the same name is also expected to hit theaters during the first quarter of the new year.
