Pfizer Recalls 1 Million Packets Of Birth Control Pills, Pregnancy Risk

Pfizer Inc. is recalling 1 million packets of birth control pills after uncovering a packaging error that could leave women with an inadequate dose of the hormone-based drugs and raise the risk of accidental pregnancy.

Pfizer found that some packets of the drugs had too many active tablets, while others had too few. Oral birth control products use a series of 21 drug tablets and 7 inactive sugar tablets to regulate the menstrual period while providing contraception.

Women who drink sugary beverages every day may be raising their risk for heart disease, even if their habit is not packing on the pounds.

Whatever the form — sweet tea, soda, or coffee drinks that look like desserts — women who drank two or more sweet beverages a day were at an increased risk for heart disease, even if they did not gain weight.

Even Light Drinking Increases Breast Cancer Risk, Study Says

Even as few as three alcoholic beverages per week may increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer, a new study finds.

Women in the study who drank three to six glasses of wine per week were 15 percent more likely than those who did not drink to develop breast cancer, researchers found in reviewing data taken over a 28-year period.
