As a youngster, I remember my grandfather telling me how he had to take a test and pay a poll tax in order to vote. This is what our ancestors had to endure before the Voting Rights Act of 1965. When I cast my first ballot at the age of eighteen in 1981, I was soooo proud. I have been a registered voter ever since!! My family instilled in me the importance of this right and there’s no excuse for ANYONE not to exercise their right to vote.
