Bad news for Prince fans. The posthumous Deliverance EP will not be released this Friday, April 21, as planned. According to a new report, a judge granted the late legend’s estate a restraining order and blocked longtime Paisley Park engineer George Ian Boxill from dropping the project. From TMZ: “According to docs, obtained by TMZ, the court said it appears George Ian Boxill, the producer who put together Deliverance has no right to distribute the music to the public. The judge referenced a confidentiality agreement purportedly signed by Boxill when recording with Prince in 2006. Boxill was ordered to turn over all recordings to the estate.”

The site reports that a hearing will take place before May 3, which is when the restraining order is due to expire unless the court extends it. As for those who’ve already hit the “pre-order” button, “The order does not address the fact the album has already been pre-ordered by millions of Prince fans,” writes TMZ. So, enjoy the one song you received immediately… because it looks like that’s all you’ll be getting.
