Breast cancer facts:

African-American women and white women in Virginia were diagnosed with breast cancer at rates of 126.1 per 100,000 and 124.2 per 100,000 respectively. African-American women had a mortality rate that was 48% higher than that of white women.About 1% of all breast cancer cases in the United States occur in men. There are 2,240 new cases expected among men this year. Also, men in the U.S. are expected to die from breast cancer this year.

On Monday, October 6, 2014, 12pm-2pm join Community Clo’s team at the National Syndicated Radio Host Tom Joyner’s Party With A Pink Purpose. Purchase tickets here. A portion of proceeds will benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Also, get ready for the 7th Annual Cancer Survivor’s Day Gala on Sunday, October 12, 2014, 2pm-5pm at the Southern Kitchen, Mouth of the South 1726 East Main Street, Richmond, VA. Special guests include cancer survivors, those in treatment, music, food, family and friends. This is a free event but all proceeds to benefit the AMC’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk.
