TAKE CONTROL! GET EDUCATED! GET TESTED! KNOW YOUR STATUS!

More than 1.1 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV, but one in six does not know they are positive. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all Americans between the ages of 13-64 get tested for HIV as part of routine health care. Early diagnosis and treatment improves health, extends life and helps prevent the spread of HIV.

HIV is a growing problem in the African-American community, particularly for men here in Richmond, Virginia.  Blacks are 9 times more likely to be living with HIV/AIDS so we need more people to get tested and know their status, we need to encourage men to have healthier and honest dialogue about their sexual health and wellness.

Together we are greater than AIDS. Locate free and confidential HIV Testing sites here. Brian Collins of CAPUS, a campaign with the Virginia Department of Health, joins me on Radio One Richmond for an interview about the Greater Than AIDS campaign. Clovia “Miss Community” Lawrence
