The Petersburg Department Public Works, along with two contracting firms, have completed mayor repairs to the 16″ main water line serving the city from Tuckahoe Avenue and South Sycamore Street, east to the Prince George County border, including the 460/County Drive corrider.

According to public works, there may be some discloration in the water when first turning on the tap. If this occurs, residents should run cold water until it clears. All drinking water should still be boiled  until 6:oo tonight.

The City of Petersburg is partnering with Food Lion to supply two gallons of free water to each family. The free water distribution will be held at the Food Lion 2120 South Crater Road while supply last.

A hotline for residents and businesses with questions about water usage is open now. The hotline number is 804-733-2349.
