Few financial details were released about the deal. However, the city, county and Charlotte Regional Visitors Association did announce that $1.4 million in funding annually.

CIAA Commissioner Jacqie Carpenter said she was excited the conference would become part of the Charlotte community.

“The move also will allow us to increase our community engagement initiative,” said Carpenter.

“This event means so much to our community and we commit to be a dedicated partner and ambassador for your conference,” Cannon said.

Cannon said they are still negotiating with the CIAA, but they have reach an agreement in principal to keep the tournament here. The CIAA generated $29.86 million in direct spending and $47.17 million in economic impact.

He said the location of the headquarter is still being determined. It may be tied in with the amateur sports facility.
