Sheriff’s deputies in Bedford County are reacting to supervisors’ suggestions that teachers should be allowed to carry guns in school in light of the many recent attacks on school grounds in the U.S..

If teachers and administrators want to carry guns in school, the sheriff says they need to have the same qualifications as deputies like active shooter training every month, psychological testing and a bullet-proof vest in the classroom.

There is another planned meeting is scheduled for December to address the possibility of arming teachers.
