All twelve shooting victims were civilians and contractors just starting their day at a massive military compound as their lives were taken by Aaron Alexis, a former Navy reservist.
It is being reported that Alexis had previous gun related incidents with the law and had recently been treated for mental health issues claiming he was hearing voices in his head.
U.S. law enforcement officials say Aaron Alexis had been suffering a host of serious mental issues, including paranoia and a sleep disorder.
On Monday night, officials identified seven of the 12 victims killed:
- Michael Arnold, 59
- Sylvia Frasier, 53
- Kathy Gaarde, 62
- John Roger Johnson, 73
- Frank Kohler, 50
- Vishnu Pandit, 61
- Kenneth Bernard Proctor, 46
Authorities will name the five others after they’ve notified family members.
