The NFL is all set or the 2013 season as teams hastily try to get their rosters down to the 53-man limit.   That means players who are on the bubble, veterans who may be a step slower after years in the league, and those bright-eyed rookies are all nervous as coaches make their final evaluations before opening day.   Final preseason games are going on this week, and most of the starters will sit this one out, especially with many key injuries suffered in the past week of action.

The Washington Washington Football Team will now turn over the bulk of the first-team practice reps to Robert Griffin III, who is anxious to get back to work after rehabbing throughout the offseason.  R G – 3 is expected to be the Skins’ starter on opening night against the Philadelphia Eagles.  Michael Vick has been named the starter in Philly, and has vowed to become more of an offensive threat this season.  Interesting thought considering Vick has been besieged by injuries the past couple of seasons.

Richmonder Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks continue to impress in the preseason as Wilson is back for his 2nd year as the starting QB, and with some new additions to the roster, look for Seattle to be in the NFC mix with San Francisco, Dallas, and the Washington Football Team.  The New York Giants have not impressed anyone in the preseason, and losing to the Jets is embarassing, even in an exhibition game, so the jury still out on the G-Men for 2013.

The AFC appears to be up for grabs, with the exception of the world champion Baltimore Ravens, who could very well wind up back in the BIG game for 2014.  with Denver,  Cincinatti & New England all expected to make some noise this season.
