After the resignation of a crossing guard who made $41 an hour, the Hanover County School District is changing how its school workers are paid.

The school board agreed on Tuesday night to block workers from getting paid more than the maximum amount.

This story came to light when it was revealed that Elton Wade, the crossing guard and Board of Supervisors member, had a pay rate higher than the highest-paid teacher in the district as well as a sheriff’s deputy.
