Famous Hollywood words: It’s Showtime!  In the NBA, it is exactly that time for the defending world champion Miami Heat, who are battling the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Finals which began Wednesday evening at South Beach.  Unlike the Chicago series, the Heat’s layoff between wasn’t as long and league MVP LaBron James vowed that Miami would be “ready” on Day 1.  That was true, to a certain degree as the Pacers came to Miami to win as well.  In fact, Indiana took the champs to OT before James’ last second drive to the hoop produced a 103 – 103 win, allowing the Heat to escape the jaws of defeat once again.

Indiana wore the New York Knicks down in their NBA Eastern Conference series with tenacious defense and  strong rebounding, and Game 1 vs Miami was no different with center Roy Hibbert  holding his own in the middle.   The Pacers showed they don’t really have to control LaBron but they must get some perimeter stops to have a chance against the Heat.

The Western Conference Finals now shifts to Memphis, Tennessee, but the San Antonio Spurs again have proven time and time again that no matter the circumstances, this team knows how to win, and knows how to close out an opponent.   Been there, done that.   Going into Saturday’s Game 3 down 2 – 0, the inside duo of Zach Randolph and Mark Gasol has to impose themselves on Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobilli if the Griz want to have any hope of beating a Spurs team that’s no stranger to these NBA Playoffs.  Memphis took San Antonio into OT in Game 2 before falling 93 -89.
