Thanks Richmond and surrounding areas for your continued support in sending Richmond’s children to summer camp.  Miss Community’s 6th Annual “Send-A-Kid” to camp radiotion on Thursday was a huge success.  Radio One Richmond listeners, friends and followers on social media, and elected officials  raised closed to $17,000 and that number is still growing.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities’ summer camp program offers nine weeks of structured activities for children ages 6 – 12, Monday – Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm starting June 24 and continuing through August 23. This year’s theme is “Road Trip USA”

Children enrolled in the camp are immersed in fun activities each day that include art and cultural enrichment, health and physical education, science and environmental education, and personal and social development as well as field trips. The camp is offered at 16 department community centers throughout the city and costs $250 per child for city residents and an additional cost for non-city residents.
