With the excitement of March Madness just a few weeks away, the VCU Rams continue to roll following a big win on Thursday against UMass.   The win improves the the Rams to 20 – 5 in their first season as Atlantic-10 members, and despite the change of landscape, VCU has remained a strong foe for any opponent and remain in first place in the A-10 with a huge road game coming up at Saint Louis.  The Rams will entertain George Washington on Saturday at the Siegal Center.  The Spiders of UR will play St. Bonaventure on Saturday at the Robins Center in other A – 10 action.

In the CIAA, Virginia Union remains locked into a tie for second place in the CIAA Northern Division after beating Bowie State on Wednesday night in Richmond.  The Panthers will travel to Lincoln University on Saturday as they try to keep the momentum going into the CIAA Tournament, which gets underway in Charlotte on February 26th.. Meanwhile, Virginia State has a date with Elizabeth City at home, the CIAA Northern Division leader on Saturday night.  The Trojans defeated Chowan on Wednesdayand Barber-Scotia on Sunday.

The Spartans of Norfolk State University continue to run rampant through the MEAC, going 11 – 0 in the league following a Monday night romp over Maryland-Eastern Shore. The Spartans have won ten straight games to improve to 16 – 10. Hampton University also on a slight win streak after a home win Monday over Delaware State. The Pirates have won four in a row as the MEAC Tournament nears, this year being played in Norfolk at the Scope.  The Pirates will host Norfolk State on Monday Night.
