Congratulations are in order for two sports figures who hail from the Richmond area, the legendary Coach Lou Anderson, who had a stellar High School coaching career at the old Maggie L. Walker HS, and later in the CIAA as head coach of the Virginia State University Trojans. Anderson, twice voted CIAA Coach of the Year, led VSU to two CIAA titles during his tenure from 1990 – 2001, and will now be inducted into the CIAA Hall Of Fame in Charlotte, NC on Friday, March 2nd during the CIAA Tournament festivities……..

Also being honored is one of the players Anderson coached and mentored at Virginia State, former Trojans wide receiver/punt returner Damon “Redd” Thompson, who starred for State from 1997 – 2000, garnering All-CIAA and All-American honors as he became the all-time leading receiver in CIAA history. Thompson starred locally in high school at Highland Springs HS before moving on to VSU, and has since been plaing pro football in the Canadian Football League as well as working camps with NFL teams.
