The father of a baby boy found abandoned in a St. Louis apartment complex has traveled from Oklahoma City to St. Louis to get his son, reports Fox2News. Authorities are administering a paternity test before they release the child.

The 4 to 6 month old baby, identified as Donovan Prom, was discovered in the hallway of an apartment complex fully clothed, sitting in a car-seat with a bottle and something called a “cozy cover” to keep him warm.

A man was leaving for work at around 5:00 a.m. Friday morning when he noticed the infant and notified authorities. Though the baby was clearly unharmed, he was taken to DePaul Hospital for evaluation and released.

“It’s just shocking, said Brittany Koonce, a resident of the apartment complex. “I don’t see why a parent would do that. Don’t have kids if you don’t want the kid.”

The child’s mother has been identified as Ebony Jackson, 30. Originally from St. Louis, she left Oklahoma to visit family, who say that she would never abandon baby Donovan.

They are currently searching for her. Her description is below:

Jackson is described as a black female, about 5’3” tall, weighing about 150 pounds. She was driving a white 2004 Mitsubishi Galant with Colorado plates.

If you have any information in this case, call Breckenridge Hills Police at 314-426-1214, extension 140.
