Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo epitomizes ignorance by bragging that he has 11 kids with 10 different baby mamas….so what is Oxygen network epitomizing by promoting a show about this degrading mess. There are those who strongly oppose this tasteless attempt to get ratings while at the same time promote a negative image of black people and they are protesting it before it hits the air.
Many who have watched the 10-minute clip that served as a pilot for the special are demanding it’s cancellation. The most popular petition was launched by Sabrina Lamb and has thus far amassed more than 4,500 signatures.
In an open letter directed at Oxygen development execs, Lamb writes:
By pushing these degrading images, your company seeks to profit from the humiliation of girls and women and the blatant stereotyping of African Americans. We think Oxygen and the show’s creators and producers have gone too far and if this show is aired, we will, without hesitation, boycott any and all companies that advertise during this minstrel show.
