The New York Giants defeated the Washington Redskins Sunday in the Big Apple, and despite the victory, the G-Men still had much praise for rookie QB Robert Griffin III, who gave the defending champions fits throughout the contest and nearly pulled off the win on the road for Washington before Eli Manning’s last minute heroics, a 77-yard bomb to WR Victor Cruz with one minute left. Heartbreaker for the Redskins who now fall back into the NFC East cellar at 3 – 4 with a trip to Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The Dallas Cowboys moved upstairs to the 2nd floor in defeating Carolina 19 -13 in Charlotte and are now tied with the idle Philadelphia Eagles for second place in the division behind the Giants. With New York coming to Dallas this weekend, it should be quite an interesting weekend in the NFL. The Eagles also have a big game this weekend, at home against the NFL’s last remaining unbeaten team, the Atlanta Falcons.
New England bumped the New York Jets, the Steelers came from behind to knock-off Cincinatti, and Baltimore was beaten badly at Houston on Sunday, but still lead the AFC North. Monday night action has the Chicago Bears hosting arch-rival Detroit in the Windy City.
