President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney relaxed from their campaigns to attend the 67th Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The fundraiser has been a required stop for all politicians since World War ll. In step with tradition, both candidates prepared humorous many speeches about their perpective campaigns, themselves and their opponents. The fundraiser organized by the Catholic Archdiocese benefits needy children.

The punchlines from both candidates were really funny.

Alfred Emanuel “Al” Smith was elected the 42nd Governor of New York three times and was a democratic candidate for President of the United States of America. He lost the candidacy to Herbert Hoover. Smith was known as “the man of the people.”

Romney said, he and Obama “are each very lucky to have one person who’s always in our corner, someone who we can lean on, and someone who’s a comforting presence without whom we wouldn’t be able to go another day. I have my beautiful wife, Ann. He has Bill Clinton.”

“As some of you may have noticed, I had a lot more energy at our second debate. I felt really well rested after the nice, long nap I had in the first debate,” Obama said. “Although it turns out millions of Americans focused in on the second debate who didn’t focus in on the first debate — and I happened to be one of them.”
