While the rhetoric against the President from the GOP surrogates is getting uglier by the day, the efforts appear to be backfiring on Mitt Romney’s campaign as polls indicate President Obama is widening the gap in mostly all of the battleground states, most importantly, in Florida and Ohio. While Romney’s unfavorable numbers continue to rise, the gender gap is also widening among women voters.

Both Romney and his Vice Presidential running mate Paul Ryan are touring together in the state of Ohio this week, as is the President, but for the Republican duo, it is strictly a business trip as they see the polls sliding downward in a state they MUST win. The attacks on the President have become sharper in recent days with former candidate Newt Gingrich today saying that Obama is not a “real” President. One of the most telling footnotes of just how bad it’s going for Romney are polls that are showing American voters are now seeing President Obama as the best to handle the nation’s economy. With the argument that he is the one who can turn the economy around as the basis of his campaign, that is not very encouraging.
