The Seattle Seahawks were on the biggest stage in television sports Monday with a rookie quarterback who happens to hail from Richmond, VA. His journey to that world stage has had a few twists and turns,  but Russell Wilson has indeed arrived!   In Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Wilson threw perhaps the most controversial touchdown pass in NFL history, or at least, one of them.   The “Hail Mary” desperation toss into the end zone appeared to be intercepted by the Packers’safety  M. D. Jennings, and somehow Seattle receiver Golden Tate got his hands around the football as the two tussled to the ground, and the “replacement” officials ruled the pass complete for a touchdown, giving the Seahawks a stunning 14 – 12 victory over Green Bay.   Needless to say, the Packers, the fans, and the NFL nation all cried foul, but the league says despite the blown call, the play and the game stands.

As expected, a tough week every week in the NFC East, where the Giants crushed Carolina on Thursday night and the Cowboys won a hard-fought battle with Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Philadelphia Eagles AND Michael Vick were both beaten up in Phoemix as the Arizona Cardinals remained undefeated with a 27 – 6 rout. Both Vick and Washington Football Team QB Robert Griffin III will be sore this week as both were hit again and again on Sunday. Griffin may have given the Cincinatti Bengals motivation to be more physical in their 38 – 31 win after loudly complaining about being hit last week at St. Louis in the media. He can expect more of that….

In Dallas, the Cowboys were…….well, the Cowboys. Up & down, good play here, bad play there. This time it was enough to win against the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. The victory essentially puts Dallas back on top of the three-way jam atop the NFC East as Dallas, Philly, and New York are 2 – 1, and the ‘Boyz have the only division win so far. Other big winners on Sunday, undefeated Houston is now 3 – 0, as are the Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons. Amazing finishes in Baltimore as the Ravens win at the buzzer amid controversy, Minnesota upset previously nubeaten San Francisco, and the New Orleans Saints are for real! They’re winless…..
