Ah, the good old days, when gas and food prices were cheaper, and you could get a pair of the hottest sneakers on earth for a little less than $100. That was then and this is now, as we discover we are a long way from those original Red & Black Air Jordans. Nike is set to debut the new LaBron James X Nike Plus shoes this fall with an astronamical price tag of $315. Obviously, these are not your dad’s sneakers, and even with LaBron’s fan base and a struggling economy, Nike expects the LaBron shoes to do well in retail. In fact, they’re “counting” on it!
So what do you get for $315? The new LaBrons offer motion sensors to tell you just how high you actually jump and how fast you run. Wow. Really? Now that’s just what every kid needs, right? Sorry folks, these shoes will not guarantee an NBA career or improvement on your basketball skills, although they should for that price. After previous trouble with these big product roll-outs, retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods and Foot Locker may think twice about a big midnight promotion for the pricey sneaks, which analysts now say will cost more in the range of $290. Wow, that’s a big relief, now with the sales tax, it will only be…….around $315!
