Richmond native Russell Wilson, who starred at Collegiate and finished his college career last season at Wisconsin has led the Seattle Seahawks to two preseason victories over the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilson threw for 2 TDs, passing for 185 yards and rushing for 58 in a 44 – 14 rout of KC., and has been rewarded by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll with the starting quarterback job for the 2012 season. Wilson has an unexpected blessing to Seattle, who lured QB Matt Flynn away from the Green Bay Packers with the expectation that he would be the team’s new leader, but the talented QB from Richmond, VA has put the Hawks on a different course.

In Tennessee, the Titans have tapped 2nd-year QB and the team’s No. 1 pick in 2011 to be the team’s starter when the Titans open the 2012 season at home vs the New England Patriots. Locker had been battling veteran Matt Hasselbeck for the job after serving as a back-up to Kerry Collins last season.

Washington Washington Football Team rookie QB Robert Griffin III turned in a solid effort on Saturday in leading the Skins to a win over the Indianapolis Colts and top draft pick Andrew Luck in what could be the first of many meetings between those two. Luck has certainly looked poised and ready to go as a rookie replacing a legend in Peyton Manning, while Griffin has also been everything the Washington Football Team had hoped for so far in the preseason.

Among the weekend winners were Dallas, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and the San Francisco 49ers. Most of the starters will likely sit out next weekend’s final preseason games while undrafted free agents and draft picks fight for the remaining jobs available. The Washington Football Team open at New Orleans, while the Cowboys visit the world champion New York Giants to kick-off the 2012 NFL season.
