KISS – FM celebrates the birthdays of some of our favorite stars and public figures every week, and in the celebrity birthday spotlight this week is actor Tom Hanks (57), Ex-NFL star turned convict O. J. Simpson (66), and he’s still a Bad Motha……..of course, we’re talkin’ bout “Shaft”. The one and only actor Richard Rountree is 70 as all shared Monday, July 9th, as their date of birth.
On Tuesday, July 10th, pop star Jessica Simpson turned 31, while that date also marked the birthday of Richmond’s beloved native and former tennis great, the late Arthur Ashe, Jr. A big month for NFL stars as Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson was 31 on Wednesday, July 11th. And who could forget that smile, former boxing great Leon Spinks celebrated his 58th birthday yesterday, while female rapper Lil’ Kim also shared her 37th on Wednesday.
Legendary TV actor and comedian Bill Cosby celebrated his 75th birthday on Thursday, July 12th, a date shared by long-time fitness guru Richard Simmons, who was 54 years old. On “Friday the 13th” of July, famed actor Harrison Ford turned 69, while ex-NBA stars Spud Webb (48) and David Thompson (58) shared that date as well. Former UVA football coach Al Groh also born on that date, is now 68.
Today, Saturday, July 14th, New York Jets star Darrelle Reavis turns 27, and ex-NFL great “Rosey” Roosevelt Grier is 79. Rosey starred for the old Los Angeles Rams and was a part of the famed “Fearsome Foursome”, as well as the older brother of the queen of Black film, Pam Grier.
Rounding out this week’s birthdays on Sunday, July 15th, is actor-director Forrest Whitaker, who will celebrate his 50th birthday, and former NFL Coach Jimmie Johnson, who led the Dallas Cowboys to two Super Bowls, will turn 69 on Sunday.
