CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper has gone public in announcing that he is gay, and in his own words, he “always has been, always will be”. The announcement caught a lot of people by surprise as Cooper has always been private about his sexuality. Cooper says he couldn’t be more happy and confortable with himself, and he’s proud of it. He made the remarks in an e-mail commentary to the Daily Beast website.
Andrew Sullivan, a writer for the Daily Beast, is a friend of Cooper’s and as the ewo were communicating about how gays seem to be a little more reluctant to come out these days, cooper made the admission that he too was gay. Sullivan was granted permission to go with the story which Cooper explained was really encouraged by the increase in bullying and discrimination against gays. Being the son of the legendary Gloria Vanderbilt may have been one of the reasons he waited so long to come out publicly.
