As The Washington Redskins get set to make their way south to their new second homer here in Richmond, one of the positive signs for the upcoming season is the rejuvenated mindset of offensive tackle Trent Williams, who says he’s been “scared straight” after being suspended last season for marijuana usage. Williams and tight end Fred Davis both disappointed their teammates and fans with their actions and despite the team’s last place finish, they were presumed to be future leaders of the Redskins.

Williams says he’s re-focused and energized to come back and play well this upcoming season and says the events of last year have definitely had a positive and lasting effect on him and vows to make amends for the mistake by playing his very best. That’s like sweet music to the ears of Redskins fans everywhere because Williams will be entrusted with the safety of franchise QB Robert Griffin III as his protector -in – chief on the left side of Washington’s O-Line.

Meanwhile, former Skins’ QB Donovan McNabb says the chances are 80 -9o% that he will sign with a team and will return to play this season in the NFL. McNabb says there are three teams interested in his services but he has not made up his mind yet as to which one he will join, nor will he name either of the three teams he says are courting him.   After failing to find a team last year, McNabb eventually sat out the season following his release by the Minnesota Vikings.

What is going on in Detroit? The Lions obviously have some character issues as the team has seen four of it’s players arrested during the off-season, an unusually high number for one team. The latest, CB Aaron Berry, who was arrested on a DUI charges and fleeing from police. Couple the four arrests with the on-field problems of defensive star Ndamakung Suh last season, and the questions begin as to just what is going on with these Detroit Lions, a team supposedly “on the rise”.
