Bishop Thomas Dexter “TD” Jakes celebrated 35 years in the ministry. He was shocked of those who were in attendance at his event over the weekend. His family, congregation and community were all in attendance as he expected but he didnt expect Tyler Perry and CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien to host the celebration.
On Friday, June 8, 2012 thousands gathered to salute a man after God’s own heart, world leaders, dignitaries, and celebrities gathered at the AT & T Opera House in Dallas, TX to honor Bishop Jakes. Jakes is a world renown spiritual leader and faith-based entertainment icon and mogul.
There were moving tributes and testimonies of how Bishop Jakes has changed lives through the grace of God. His special surprise guest was international media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Also, in attendance at the black-tie gala were A-list celebrities. The night featured entertainment from Chaka Khan, Jordin Sparks, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Fred Hammond, BeBe Winans, Kelly Price, KEM and a host of others.
Film, comedians and television stars participated in the gala, Loretta Divine, Angela Bassett, Courtney B Vance, Gayle King, Mike Epps, Meagan Good, Emmitt Smith, Tracy Edmonds and Deion Sanders.
