There’s drama over in the world of soon-to-be-wed “Basketball Wives” Evelyn Lozada and Chad Ochocinco. Early Thursday, Chad Ochocinco found out he had been “cut” from the New England Patriots.
The Ochocinco experiment was one with high hopes. Pairing Chad, a wide receiver, with Quarterback Tom Brady was supposed to give the Patriots at least 50 receptions, close to 1,000 yards and about half dozen touchdowns.
Instead, Ochocino, a 6-time Pro Bowler, produced a mere 15 catches, 276 yards and only 1 touchdown in 15 games with the Patriots. Underwhelming numbers for a receiver with seven 1,000-yard campaigns in his 11-year career.
Rather than meeting the high expectations that the team needed, it turned out that the Patriots actually made it to the Super Bowl despite Chad’s lack of productivity.
And, let’s not forget that his lackluster performance on the field was constantly overshadowed by his reality show antics off the field.
Ochocinco took the high road, after being fired, saying, “Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play for the ‘Patriot’ organization… fans were … wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best…”
For most football fans, Thursday’s dismissal of Chad Ochocinco was definitely the right call by the New England Patriots, and the best case scenario for a receiver who has clearly lost his way.
Meanwhile, reality TV stars Evelyn Lozada & Chad will have to work a new storyline into their “Ev & Ocho” reality show now that he is an EX-NFL player.
His fiance Evelyn tweeted, “Aww baby you got cut @ochocinco I got your back! I’m the bread winner now, which means I make the rules! #Boom”
