President Obama is committed to returning troops home to their families with better healthcare, benefits for families and employment.

President Obama made promises to veterans and active duty military and kept them. Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown is the highest ranking elected official in the country to have served active duty in Iraq. Lt. Governor Brown shared during our interview that President Obama kept his promise to increase funding for veterans healthcare and ended the war in Iraq.

CHICAGO, IL —  Obama for America held a press conference call with Delaware Attorney General and Major in the Delaware Army National Guard Beau Biden and OFA National Veterans & Military Families Outreach Director Rob Diamond to announce the national launch of Veterans and Military Families for Obama. President Obama is committed to ensuring that all of our men and women who have served in uniform can find work when they return home, receive the health care and benefits they’ve earned, and have the chance to get a college education through the post-9/11 GI Bill. As our nation’s servicemen and women return home from war, now more than ever we must fulfill our duty to them. Our country can’t go backwards, but that’s exactly what Mitt Romney promises America’s veterans. The Romney-Ryan budget includes deep domestic spending cuts that – if applied across the board – would cut veterans’ spending by $11 billion a year. Additionally, he said he would consider eliminating the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which would put thousands of Veterans on the streets by eliminating critical funding and support for programs aimed at helping homeless Veterans. In fact, Romney suggested privatizing veterans benefits and giving veterans vouchers for health care – an idea that outside experts said would leave veterans unable to receive essential care and that the Veterans of Foreign Wars immediately came out in opposition to. To put it simply: he lacks the foreign policy judgment and vision necessary to be President. He touts his plans to get us into wars but offers no plans to end them. Veterans and military families across the country are working tirelessly to re-elect President Obama because they know voters will face a clear choice in November. They understand what’s at stake and that the President has made it a priority to serve those who serve our country.
