The “Welcome Home the Heroes Parade” is on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 19, 2012. Veterans, active duty personnel and families are invited to the event from across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Richmond’s Welcome Home the Heroes Parade committee wants to thank and show support to veterans and families for their honorable and dedicated service to our nation the past decade. The parade provides the Richmond community an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ as well.

There will be lots of entertainment and the Veterans Resource Village. This one-stop resource for veterans and their families will feature outreach groups, service organizations, government and non-government support groups and veteran-friendly employers. There will be live entertainment from all music genres by local musicians featured at nearby Dogwood Dell throughout the event.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Kensington and Boulevard and proceeds down Boulevard to Byrd Park and ends at the Carillon. For more information about the “Welcome Home the Heroes Parade” and events, please visit www.americaforvets.org or call the Richmond Navy League at 804-355-7557. The event time is 10 a.m -3 p.m.

Robin Beres, is the parade’s organizer and she joined me on Community Conversations to talk about the greatest celebration planned for our veterans. Please make effort to attend this weekend.
