After being crowned World’s Most Beautiful Woman by People magazine, Beyonce is receiving a bit of recognition for her brains. On May 15, Beyonce will pick up an award from the New York Association of Black Journalists for her article Eat, Play, Love, which was featured in the July 2011 issue of Essence magazine, reports The Insider.
The cover story chronicled her nine-month hiatus from the industry in 2010, detailing her travels with husband Jay-Z which she dubbed as a “creative reawakening.”
Essence entertainment director Cori Murray confirmed to the New York Daily News that the piece was indeed written by Beyonce, save for a few necessary corrections. “She’s a real writer,” Murray says. “We had to edit her, but everyone gets edited except Toni Morrison.”
