Martin Lawrence and his wife of 2 years, Shamicka Lawrence (maiden name Gibbs), have decided to call it quits.
Maybe marriage was not the best choice for them.
“Big Momma’s House” star Martin Lawrence and wife Shamicka, who have 2 kids together (Amara and Iyana), were together for 15 years before finally marrying in 2010. And today, the couple put out a joint statement saying:
“Out of love and respect for one another we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together.”
A publicist for Martin Lawrence confirmed, “Martin and Shamicka Lawrence have decided to divorce. The couple has made the joint decision to part ways.”
This was Lawrence’s second marriage. He also has a daughter with ex-wife Patricia, who’s now married to NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.
Martin Lawrence recently shot a sitcom pilot for CBS and wrapped a national stand-up tour.
The couple has two daughters, Amara and Iyana.
