Timothy Michael Kaine was born on February 26, 1958. During his time in office, Kaine has held multiple positions. They include, the 76th Mayor of Virginia (1988-2000), the 38th Lieutenant Governor of Virginia (2002 –2006), the 51st Chairman of the Democratic National Committee ( 2009 –2011) and the 70th Governor of Virginia (2006-2010).

During Kaine’s term for Mayor of Richmond, the city experienced tax cuts, reduction in crime rate, and the construction of new schools. Richmond also gained a spot in Forbes Magazine for top 10 cities in America to do business.

Currently Tim Kaine is running for U.S. Senate. “If I am elected to the Senate in 2012, I will take the lessons I’ve learned over a lifetime of public service to Washington and join with others who want to break through gridlock and find results for the best nation on earth,”stated Kaine on his website http://www.kaineforva.com/issues

U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine while on the campaign trail called me to discuss his vision for the country’s economic future.  The key points of the plan are growth, talent and balance. Growth to encourage economic growth and job creation immediately, talent strategies to ensure the United States has the most talented workforce in the world, and “balance” to address our fiscal challenges and change the tone of our politics.

Tim Kaine has a proven track record of working across the aisle.  U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine said during our interview on Community Conversations “you might be a proud democrat or republican but I have a proven track record to working together. I did it as mayor and as governor. I will partner with my Senate colleagues, whatever the party they represent. I must listen, find common ground and move forward.”

Tim Kaine goes on to explain that as  Lt. governor and governor, he worked with two republican controlled houses and together won the award for “best manage state, “best state for business” and the “best state to raise a child.”  Kaine said ” we knew how to work together regardless of the party.”

Candidate Tim Kaine is special guest at the Radio One Senatorial Community Forum on Saturday, August, 25, 2012 at the Virginia War Memorial. This is a free event located at 621 South Belvidere Street, Richmond, VA 23220. Event time 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
