Radio One Richmond will broadcast live 10am-7pm from the Main Post Office on Brook Road making “Tax Deadline Day” a little easier with EZ Income Tax Service. Richmond, Virginia -Although 77% of all individual tax returns were filed electronically last year, the Richmond District is extending retail hours at the Main Post Office at 1801 Brook Road to accommodate last-minute tax filers.

The retail window will be open an additional two hours on Tax Day, April 17th until 7:00pm. The extended hours will include purchases for stamps, services and the application of that April 17th postmark.

Postal workers will assist in the parking lot with the collection of tax returns and other mail until 7pm. Although the last official collection from the blue boxes in from of the post office is 5:30pm, an additional collection at 7pm has been added to ensure tax returns get to the Richmond Processing and Distribution Center in time to get the April 17th postmark from automated mail processing machinery. Mail will be collected from the drop slot at the Self-Service Center at 7pm -mail dropped after that will be postmarked April 18th.

Mchele Martel is District Communications Coordinator with the Richmond Main Post Office and she shared with me that “7pm is the drop dead time now” for last minute tax filers to get the April 17th postmark.
