“The View” Co-Host Sherri Shepherd got the boot Tuesday on “Dancing With the Stars” when she and partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, were eliminated from the competition.

Shepherd started to tear up when she learned she and Val were in the Bottom 2, but when she heard the news that she was indeed the one going home, tears streamed down her face.

“I just wanna say, thank you for letting me live a dream that I’ve always had and I wanna say, I got the most amazing partner in Val Chmerkvoskiy,” Sherri said, reflecting on the experience. “And, I wanna say, to every person out there — that thing that scares you the most, that makes you say, ‘I don’t know if I can do it, I’m scared,’ run towards it because it’s so amazing on the other side.”

Chmerkvoskiy apologized to his partner for not getting her further in the competition.

“She’s an incredible person, she fought for me and I’m just really, really sorry,” he said.

Shepherd responded, “No – I love you and I thank you all… I had the most amazing time. Thank you,” she said.

Actress Melissa Gilbert, who was rushed to the hospital after hitting her head during competition Monday night, was not in attendance on Tuesday, as she is said to be suffering from a concussion and whiplash.
