Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who earned his fame playing basketball, is now the proud owner of Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers, a move that has already energized the fans and excited the LA community. Johnson, who starrred for the Lakers winning five world championships, hopes to bring that winning environment back to Dodger Stadium.
Johnson’s investment group paid some $2 billion for the team, the stadium, and half of the parking lots, a figure believed to be the highest ever for a baseball franchise, but Magic is convinced the team will return to glory. In fact, he plans to have an office in Dodger Stadium and plans to be heavily involved, but will not overstep.
When asked why he would be committing more time to the Dodgers, Magic responded by saying “I’m writing a BIG check here”. Indeed. Congratulations M. J.!
